Yeshua or Jesus? – YHVH or LORD?

The name that was given to our Messiah when he was born was Yahoshua which is quite often pronounced Yeshua for short, which means God’s Salvation. We love to use His real name and encourage you to do so as well, but we have no problem with the name of Jesus or variations in pronunciation! As we can see in Acts 4 below, knowing his real name is something we should want to do! Yahshua, Yeshua, Yahushua…… Transliterations will never both us. It is not about the spelling but rather the heart to want to actually use his real name.

Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

We feel it is important to at least know the “REAL” name of the one who saves us and from there we hope your desire will be to use it!

In the Old Testament the true name of God (YHVH), which some pronounce as Yehovah (Yeh ho vah) and others Yahweh, is recorded almost 7,000 times, but the translators left out the name of God and replaced it with the LORD, which is a generic title of respect. His Biblically recorded name is important and one day we will all know it for certain, but taking on His name (Shem in Hebrew) means to represent your King with honor. Honoring God is far more important than pronunciation so remember that and give grace to others who use the name slightly different.
